I once saw a video that had a very smart idea on how to deal with global warming, he generally split it up into boxes, two giving an idea of what the damage and financial consequences would be if there was an investment in global warming in a situation where there was and a situation where there wasn't an actual problem)

And the second box was the same, only no investment.

And even though they were 4 possible scenarion.

No investment + global warming showed a gigantic amount of damage to the planet, to the people, to everything and a huge investment needed at some point to try and fix it.

No investment - global warming showed that not much would change, this is the neutral approach, but in this case a very dangerous one. Neutral can be bad seeing that there is no con to the investments.

Investment + global warming is a prevention or atleast a damage reduction of global warming, which is of course a good thing.

investment - global warming is still a good investment, the new technologies that came from it would not go to waste and could still be used to form a cleaner world environment.

Of course that guy explained it all a lot better then I did :P, but yeah, I'll see if I can find that video ^^.
