  • I am a Mother

This book written by Jane Clayson Johnson formerly of the Today Show and also a consultant with Good Morning America talks about her choice to be a stay at home mother. She addresses the judgements against those who make that choice. I highly recommend this book for any who make judgements against or feel the judgements against making the choice to be a stay at home Mother. It brings the dignity and value back to that choice.

  • Stolen Tommorows

A book about childhood sexual abuse, the challenges of overcoming, what to look for in a therapist and how to treat those who struggle with those issues. I thought it did a good job of addressing those issues.

  • Viruses vs. Superbugs,  A Solution to the Antibiotic Crisis?/Thomas Hausler

This was one of those books that I was just going to do a quick skim through to glean what information I could but instead I found myself totally drawn into it and read every page.  It talks about the history and challenges of a medical therapy that was just beginning to be used to combat bacteria when penicillin and antibiotics were discovered. It could be the answer to overcoming those superbug bacteria that have become completely resistant to antibiotics.  Though the challenges of getting the money for research to get FDA approval for medical use may be more than any company is willing to take on, the application in the acgriculture and meat production areas could be life changing.  A way to eliminate the use of antibiotics in our food sources, which will also help with the overuse of antibiotics.  It may eliminate the fear of samonella and mad cow disease.  Fascinating book, It will be interesting to follow where phage ( viruses that kill bacteria but not us) therapy goes in the future.

  •  A perfect mess : the hidden benefits of disorder : how crammed closets, cluttered offices, and on-the-fly planning make the world a better place / Eric Abrahamson and David H. Freedman.

I loved this book. I will never think of a mess in the same way again. It is a great guilt-buster for all those shoulds about being neater and more organised in your life. Being neater isn’t always more efficient. Find your optimal functional messiness and loose the guilt.

  • The checklist : what you and your family need to know to prevent disease and live a long and healthy life / Manny Alvarez.

Medical checklists of things to know and look for in every age of a persons life.

  •   How mathematics happened : the first 50,000 years / Peter S. Rudman.
I picked this book up just to get the eyeball roll from Lydia because she has been complaining about hating History and Math lately. So, I just had to get a book about the history of Math.  Part of the authors purpose with the book is to bring the fun back to math.  There are lots of fun math problems to solve, some interesting information about math, and the difference between Mathmatics and Arithmatic.
